AHRIMPN Urges FG To Support, Create Policies To Enhance HIM Practices In Nigeria

The Nigerian Association of Health Records and Health Information Management Practitioners (AHRIMPN)  has urged the federal government to support and pay attention to the significant contributions of health information management professionals in Nigeria’s health industry.

At the annual Health Information Professionals Week celebration held at the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba Lagos, the association issued a call with the theme “Data Analytics and Health Information: Driving Insights and Innovation in Healthcare.” The association emphasized how crucial HIM is to enhancing patient outcomes and the provision of healthcare in Nigeria.

Samson Gidado, chairman of the association, emphasized the need for the Federal Government to acknowledge and prioritize the significant contributions of HIM practitioners by creating a conducive working environment that fosters professional growth and innovation.

The chairman also stressed the need to dismantle barriers to health information management (HIM) in Nigeria, addressing issues like hierarchy and fostering acceptance among healthcare professionals

He further reiterated the association’s unwavering commitment to leveraging technologies to enhance healthcare delivery in Nigeria through the use of Data analytics and information systems to drive insights and optimize resource allocation.

Also, the national secretary of the association, Adeleke Ibrahim Taiwo (AIT), said in an interview with newsmen in Lagos that in order to recognize and promote health information professionals in Nigeria, policymakers, hospital administrators, and partners in health management must collaborate.

He pointed out that HIM practitioners can continue to promote innovation and excellence in healthcare, which will eventually benefit all Nigerians, with the backing of the Federal Government and stakeholders.
