Pep Guardiola, Manchester City coach, stated that Palmer’s decision to leave the club was a result of his dissatisfaction with his current contract.

After moving to Chelsea in the summer transfer window, the 21-year-old has gone on to score 20 Premier League goals in his first campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of Chelsea’s next game against Manchester City, Pep Guardiola spoke about Palmer’s outstanding performance against Everton, who scored four goals.

“He was asking for two seasons to leave Man City. I said: stay. He wanted to leave. What can we do?,” he said.

“He’s an exceptional player with super potential. I didn’t give him the minutes he deserves that he now has at Chelsea.

Chelsea signed 21-year-old Palmer for £40m, with potential add-ons of £2.5m.

He currently leads scoring charts with 20 goals.
