Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has congratulates Tunde Onakoya for setting a new world record in the longest chess marathon, showcasing the resilience and determination of Nigeria’s youth.

Tunde Onakoya broke the Guinness World Record in an 58-hour chess marathon

President Tinubu in a statement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, praised Onakoya for his exceptional accomplishments and noble cause, Chess in Slums Africa, which empowers African children through chess, demonstrating the transformative power of determination and compassion.

He said Onakoya had shown a pattern that was common among Nigeria’s youth population, the audacity to make good change happen, to baffle impossibility, and propel innovations and solutions to the nation’s challenges, even from corners of disadvantage.

He noted that  Onakoya’s chess victory, highlighting the youth’s ability to innovate, inspire, and overcome obstacles, a trait exemplified by Nigeria’s youth’s talent and potential in various fields.
