Former Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor has weighed in on the hotly contested race for the Premier League title, tipping Manchester City to clinch the trophy once again.
Despite Arsenal’s recent victory over Tottenham Hotspur, Adebayor believes City’s consistency and resilience will see them through to the finish line.
Arsenal’s narrow 3-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday kept them at the top of the table, albeit by a slim margin. With only one point separating them from Manchester City, who also have a game in hand, the title race has intensified in its final stretch.
Adebayor, speaking to Premier League Productions, expressed cautious optimism about Arsenal’s prospects while also highlighting their susceptibility to dropping points. He acknowledged Arsenal’s talent and potential but emphasized the unpredictability of their performance in the remaining fixtures.
“Anythilng is possible with Arsenal because we all know how good they can play. This team is very young and very talented,” Adebayor remarked. “But am I sure they’re going to get nine points? I’m not sure. Anything can happen. We saw a couple of weeks ago they lost at home to Aston Villa.”
The former striker’s skepticism towards Arsenal’s ability to secure maximum points in their last three matches underscores the competitive nature of the Premier League.
Despite their recent form, Adebayor believes Arsenal’s inconsistency leaves room for doubt, especially in crucial encounters.
In contrast, Adebayor expressed confidence in Manchester City’s ability to maintain their winning momentum.
He pointed to their track record of resilience and their capacity to deliver under pressure.
While acknowledging Arsenal’s improvement, Adebayor remains unconvinced of their ability to replicate City’s consistency in the closing stages of the season.
“Whereas if you ask me can Man City win their next 20 games I would say yes because they have proved they can do it. Arsenal are looking better and stronger but I’m not sure they are going to win their last three games,” Adebayor stated.
Adebayor’s prediction adds intrigue to Premier League title race, as Arsenal aims to defy odds and claim first title in years, while Manchester City’s relentless pursuit threatens their aspirations.
