Afrobeat music icon Ayodeji Balogun, famously known as Wizkid, caused a stir on the microblogging platform X.com on Monday, as he directed criticism towards Davido and Don Jazzy, the head of Mavin Records.
Following his controversial tweet, Wizkid quickly became a trending topic on X, claiming the fourth spot on Nigeria’s X trends list.
Engaging with his followers, Wizkid labeled the highly successful music producer and record label owner, Don Jazzy, as an ‘influencer’, and ridiculed Davido for a recently leaked video showing him tearfully pleading on his knees to a person believed to be a female acquaintance.
Despite his infrequent tweeting habits, Wizkid, known for his provocative posts, ignited a frenzy on X with his tweet at 4:28 am on Monday, stating, “Every day I get things to say but my mouth no good.” In response to a fan with the handle @demigadd suggesting he release a new song, Wizkid curtly replied, “Na by force.”
By the time of this report, his initial tweet had amassed an impressive 3.5k comments, 8.8k retweets, 36k likes, and 1.3 million views, sparking a flurry of discussions.
At 4:42 am, another fan under the username @iretomiwa03 urged Wizkid to return to his previous active and engaging presence on X. The fan pleaded, “Can you just go back to old Twitter wiz,” to which the ‘Holla at your Boy’ singer dismissively replied, “That’s a bully! Let’s leave him for now.”
