Former Blues boss, Roberto Di Matteo has suggested a coaching shake-up as Chelsea competes for a European spot in the Premier League.
According to reports from Football Express, Di Matteo believes that the club’s management should look to bring in a new coach as the season draws to a close.
“At the end of the season they played better, there was confidence, the squad returned to normal, but I still don’t trust Pochettino,” remarked Di Matteo, casting doubt on the leadership of current manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Di Matteo highlighted the necessity of having a coach with a track record of accomplishment, saying, “Chelsea needs a coach with experience of winning, a specialist who has been through a lot and knows how to achieve success.”
Italian skepticism about Pochettino’s credentials stems from lack of tangible success, questioning his managerial career’s silverware.
Moreover, Di Matteo stressed the importance of psychological preparation in addition to tactical prowess. “Chelsea needs a coach who will prepare the team correctly for the season, prepare them psychologically correctly and then they will be ready to fight all season,” he asserted.
Despite initial struggles earlier in the season, Pochettino’s Chelsea has shown remarkable improvement in recent months.
The team has suffered just three defeats in their last 18 league matches, a stark contrast to the eight losses in the preceding 18 games.
As the season reaches its climax, Di Matteo’s call for change adds an intriguing dimension to Chelsea’s future. With just two games remaining, the Blues’ management faces a pivotal decision that could shape the club’s fortunes for seasons to come.
