Former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has assured Nigerians that he remains fully committed to his responsibilities as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) despite the political tensions in Rivers State

Wike made this declaration on Friday while conducting a final inspection of several ongoing projects slated for commissioning in the FCT.

“I am not distracted. If I am distracted, you won’t see this performance here. I am focused on my work, so I’m not distracted,” he stated.

“I’m Minister of the FCT and work is going on. I don’t even think about it at all.”

His comments come amid escalating concerns over his relationship with his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The political friction between the two leaders has been a subject of intense public scrutiny, especially following the recent resignation of several commissioners in Fubara’s administration.

Officials, many of whom were initially appointed by Wike, have stepped down amid the ongoing turmoil.

The dispute has drawn significant attention from Nigerians who fear that the discord could impact governance and stability in Rivers State.

Despite these concerns, Wike’s reassurances suggest a commitment to his ministerial duties, aiming to ensure that the political drama does not overshadow his role in the FCT.

As the Minister of the FCT, Wike has overseen numerous projects, some of which are nearing completion and are expected to significantly enhance infrastructure and services in the capital
