Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has called on the government to take decisive action in securing the lives and properties of Nigerians following the repeated attacks in Plateau State.

Obi’s statement comes in response to the recent attack in Zurak village in Wase LGA, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 40 people and left many others hospitalized.

Expressing his concern on his X handle on Wednesday, the former Anambra State governor condemned the violence and emphasized the urgency for the government to fulfill its primary duty of protecting citizens.

“One continues to be disheartened by the persistent reports of terrorist attacks across Plateau, Benue, and other parts of the country,” Obi stated.

He highlighted that the attack in Zurak village adds to a growing list of such heinous incidents, particularly in Plateau State.

Obi stressed the need for comprehensive measures to combat insecurity, suggesting that significant investments in education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation are critical to addressing the root causes of violence.

“Again, I call on the government to rise to its responsibilities of securing the lives and property of Nigerians with corresponding actions,” he urged.

In his message, Obi extended his condolences to the Governor of Plateau, Caleb Mutfwang, the state government, and the families affected by the tragedy. “May God grant eternal rest to the dead and quick recovery to the hospitalized,”

e concluded.
