Kingsley Moghalu, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has expressed his approval of the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.

Moghalu described Sanusi’s removal in 2020 as an extreme abuse of power and hailed the recent legislative actions that led to Sanusi’s reappointment.

Recall the reinstatement followed a bill passed by the Kano State House of Assembly on Thursday. This legislative move paved the way for Sanusi to be reappointed as the 16th Emir of Kano.

Moghalu took to his X handle to express his excitement and support for this development.

“So happy that my dear friend and former boss Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 14th Emir of Kano, former Governor @cenbank, and Chairman of the Advisory Board of @IGETAfrica has been reappointed as the 16th Emir of Kano. Historic! Congratulations Khalifa,” Moghalu posted.

Reflecting on the events of 2020, Moghalu criticized Sanusi’s removal as an act of extreme abuse of power.

He commended Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and the state legislature for their roles in correcting this wrong.

“I’m happy the wrong has been righted, and thank Kano State Governor @Kyusufabba and the Kano State Legislature for doing the right thing,” he stated.
