Ashafa Wareez, a 24-year-old from Lagos State, Nigeria, has submitted a proposal to stand blindfolded on one leg for 2 hours and 30 minutes..
He aims to surpass the previous record set by Indian Ram Phal in Luknow in October 2023 by running 2 hours 30 minutes.
Ram Phal, an Indian man, set a record of 2 hours and 1 minute on October 24, 2023.
NAIJA24NEWS gathered that Ashafa recently received an email from Guinness World Records, informing him that his application (Reference: 231205132654ldso) had been accepted.
“Hello Ashafa Wareez,
We are pleased to inform you that your application has been accepted under the following title: Longest duration standing on one leg blindfolded,” GWR responded.
Ashafa told our correspondent in a statement that he decided to try the record in order to inspire persons with disabilities
According to him “I was inspired to do the record after I was involved in a ghastly motor accident and was hospitalized for close to 2 years. In between, I wrote my state exams and my board exam, still making me the best graduating student in my set.”
He noted, “During my stay in the hospital, I encouraged fellow patients not to give up on their dreams and let them know there is #AbilityInDisability and the need for them to be #MentallyStable to achieve purpose in life.”
“I have parted ways with some of them, but I am sure by coming across this challenge they will still be inspired not to give up and to have a mindset shift that encourages us to look beyond the limitations and challenges associated with disability and instead, focus on the strengths, skills, and talents that each person possesses,” he added.
