Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, publicly criticized fellow artist Davido for providing him with “bad advice” about his career aspirations, particularly in relation to winning a Grammy Award.

Portable, widely recognized for his energetic performances and vibrant personality, recounted a dinner meeting with Davido during their respective visits to the United States.

During this encounter, he claimed that Davido, who is signed to Sony Music, dissuaded him from pursuing a similar path and instead suggested signing with Empire, a move Portable deemed potentially detrimental to his Grammy ambitions.

“The same Grammy you’re chasing is what I’m also chasing,” Portable emphasized during the livestream, expressing frustration over what he perceives as contradictory advice from someone actively pursuing the prestigious music accolade.

Known for his direct approach, Portable criticized Davido for allegedly prioritizing personal gain over genuine support.

He gave instances where other artists, such as Olamide and Skepta, had provided meaningful assistance, including financial support, collaborations, and introductions to prominent fashion brands.

“I want helpers who genuinely uplift me, not those who spread gossip or offer misleading advice,”
