Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on Nigerians, especially those in leadership positions, to embrace the values of compassion, love, and sacrifice, which are central to the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim.

In his Sallah message celebrating Eid el-Kabir, Atiku highlighted the festival as a testament to God’s love and mercy towards humanity.

The message, released by his media office in Abuja on Saturday, underscores the deeper significance of Eid el-Kabir beyond mere celebration.

Atiku stressed that the festival is an admonition for people to exhibit forbearance and compassion in all situations.

“The message of Eid al-Adha is to remind ourselves about the commandment of God to show love to one another and uphold peaceful interpersonal relationships,” Atiku said.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining trust in God, particularly during challenging times, and extending compassion and safety to the vulnerable.

He urged the public to support one another, particularly those experiencing difficulties. “Even in the face of current hard times that many Nigerians are passing through, we must never fail to put trust in God and, more importantly, extend compassion and safety to the vulnerable people around us,” he stated.

As Nigerians celebrate Eid el-Kabir, Atiku called for acts of charity and support, ensuring that the spirit of the festival is reflected in actions towards those in need.

He also called on governments at all levels to take deliberate steps to alleviate the hardships confronting Nigerians.
