Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu believes that Nyesom Wike is becoming President Bola Tinubu’s controlled errand boy amidst the ongoing crisis in Rivers State.

Report have it that  the ongoing conflict between Governor Fubara and Wike, now serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has plunged the state into chaos.

Tensions escalated when several Local Government Chairmen, due to vacate their offices on Monday following the end of their tenures, were reportedly attacked by youths on Tuesday as they attempted to access their offices.

Reports of sporadic gunfire in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Tuesday were allegedly involving Rivers State Police Command operatives..

In response to the crisis, Aisha Yesufu took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle to criticize Wike for his alleged involvement in the ongoing turmoil.

She asserted that President Bola Tinubu would prefer to negotiate with Fubara rather than Wike, emphasizing that Wike has lost his relevance within Rivers State’s political framework.

“Wike thought he was smart and decided to dine with the devil, not knowing he was on the menu,” Yesufu wrote. “A powerless Wike is a great asset to Tinubu, and Tinubu will ensure every power that Wike has is stripped so he becomes a proper errand boy that can be controlled completely.”

Yesufu further argued that without control over Rivers State’s political structure, Wike is reduced to a “haggard old politician.” She concluded, “I bet you Tinubu would rather have a deal with Fubara than Wike.”
