Former Real Madrid winger Luis Figo has confidently tipped Portugal to clinch the Euro 2024 title.
Speaking ahead of Portugal’s opening game against the Czech Republic on Thursday night, Figo emphasized the strength and balance within the Portuguese squad.
In an interview with The Mirror, Figo highlighted the team’s mix of seasoned veterans and promising young talents as a key factor in their potential success.
“Portugal has a strong team, with a good balance between very experienced players and the younger players just starting to establish themselves on an international level. Portuguese football has a bright future,” he stated.
Figo, who has closely followed the development of Portuguese football, expressed optimism about the national team’s prospects in the upcoming tournament.
He noted that, similar to the World Cup, the outcome of Euro 2024 would hinge on crucial moments, making precise predictions challenging.
However, he firmly believes that Portugal is among the top contenders.
“Like the World Cup, it will come down to small moments, so it is always difficult to predict, but Portugal are one of five or six teams which go into the tournament very confident they can win it, and why not? I’m really excited to see how far they can go,” Figo added.
