Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed the safety of Ekiti State amidst recent security challenges, assuring residents and investors that the state remains secure and resilient against criminal activities.
Speaking during a press conference in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday evening, Governor Oyebanji addressed concerns following recent incidents of violence in parts of the state capital.
The Governor condemned the recent killings perpetrated by what he described as “unscrupulous elements” within the state.
He emphasized that security agencies have already commenced actions to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice swiftly.
Governor Oyebanji underscored his administration’s zero-tolerance stance towards cultism, violence, and other criminal activities, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Ekiti State.
“The recent incidents in parts of Ado-Ekiti are regrettable and unacceptable. We are fully engaged with our security agencies to ensure that those behind these heinous acts face the full weight of the law,” he stated
The Governor, who was attending the official commissioning of a new facility in the state capital, urged calm among the populace, assuring them that measures are in place to restore and maintain peace.
He called on residents to continue with their daily activities without fear, emphasizing ongoing efforts to root out criminal elements from the state.
“We have instructed our security agencies to intensify efforts in bringing the perpetrators to justice. Ekiti State will not be a safe haven for criminal activities. We are vigilant, and we are closely monitoring the situation,” Governor Oyebanji assured.
In his appeal to the youth, the Governor stressed the importance of upholding lawful behavior and eschewing violence. He highlighted opportunities for leadership and personal development for those who choose to contribute positively to society.
“While recent events are unfortunate, they do not define Ekiti State. We are resolved to maintain our status as one of the safest states in Nigeria. I urge our citizens and investors to remain steadfast and not be discouraged by these isolated incidents,”
The Governor expressed condolences to families affected by recent violence and pledged to collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders for lasting peace and security in Ekiti State.
