Ekiti State Government has announced the commencement of a Free Surgical Program aimed at improving healthcare accessibility for its residents.
The governor’s special assistant on digital communications, Mr. Tanimola Kolade, announced this in a statement on Wednesday via his X account.
Kolade wrote, “Free Surgical Mission for Ekiti State Residents by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.”
He explained that the program is spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Human Services, under the leadership of Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani,
He noted that the initiative is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and outcomes for the people of Ekiti State.
According to the statement the Free Surgical Mission will take place in a number of the state’s medical institutions and will handle a variety of surgical needs, such as but not restricted to:Hydrocele (IPA), Caesarean sections, appendectomies, cataract surgeries, hernia repairs, lump removals, fibroids removals, and other minor and major surgical operations
Kolade emphasized the initiative’s aim to provide affordable surgical interventions to all residents, especially those who are underserved and financially disadvantaged.
Enrollment for the program is currently ongoing at primary healthcare facilities in all wards across the state. Kolade urged participants to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and a passport photograph for enrollment.
He further emphasized that the surgeries would be carried out at particular hospitals that have the staff and resources needed to guarantee successful and safe results. Rehabilitation treatments and post-operative follow-up will be offered to guarantee a thorough recovery and quickly handle any difficulties.
