Former United States president, Donald Trump, has strongly criticized President Joe Biden’s economic policies, claiming they are detrimental to Americans.

Trump made these remarks during the US presidential debate hosted by CNN in Atlanta, Georgia, in the early hours of Friday.

Trump emphasized that Biden’s handling of the US economy has been subpar, highlighting the soaring inflation rate as a significant issue.

“He has not done a good job. He’s done a poor job,” Trump stated. “And inflation is killing our country. It is absolutely killing us.”

The former president asserted that he handed over an economy with negligible inflation to Biden. “I gave him a country with essentially no inflation. It was perfect. It was so good, all he had to do was leave it alone. He destroyed it,” Trump claimed.

As the US approaches November’s presidential election, the rising cost of living and increasing prices have become pivotal topics.

The US Federal Reserve has raised its key lending rate from nearly zero to a two-decade high of between 5.25 and 5.50 percent over the past year. These higher interest rates aim to cool the economy by raising borrowing costs for consumers and businesses, affecting everything from mortgage rates to auto loans.
