Chelsea has officially announced the signing of 18-year-old attacking midfielder Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa.
Kellyman has agreed to a six-year contract with the Blues, which includes the option for an additional year. He is set to join his new teammates for pre-season training next month.
Expressing his excitement, Kellyman said, “It is fantastic to be standing here as a Chelsea player. It’s a massive club with an amazing history, so it is great to join. It is a dream come true for sure. I’m buzzing to have put on the shirt and can’t wait to get started.”
Kellyman began his career at Derby County, where he spent ten years before moving to Aston Villa in 2022.
His development at Villa saw him feature prominently for the club’s Under-18s and Under-21s teams. His impressive performances earned him a nomination for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal for Kellyman is valued at £19 million. Romano stated, “Omari Kellyman signs in as new Chelsea player from Aston Villa on a £19m deal. The deal was completed in a separated deal after Maatsen join Aston Villa.
