Shehu Sani Urges Northern Politicians to Support Tinubu’s Two-Term Presidency for National Unity

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, urges Northern politicians to support President Bola Tinubu’s two-term presidential bid for national unity and stability.

Speaking on the sidelines of a Sallah celebration, Sani emphasized the importance of continuity in leadership, stating, “It is customary for prominent figures to visit former Presidents during Sallah celebrations, but I must underscore a critical point.”

He highlighted concerns over attempts by Northern political forces to use former President Buhari as a rallying point to undermine President Tinubu’s administration.

Sani warned against divisive political maneuvers that could destabilize the country, stressing that President Tinubu’s leadership should be allowed to complete its tenure for the sake of national harmony.

“Attempting to prematurely oust a democratically elected president could plunge our nation into turmoil,” he cautioned.

Reflecting on historical precedents, Sani pointed out that Southern politicians had historically refrained from challenging Northern presidents after their first term.

He urged Northern leaders to prioritize national cohesion over personal ambitions, suggesting that any deviation could jeopardize Nigeria’s fragile unity.

Furthermore, Sani criticized past administrations for neglecting critical issues during their tenure, particularly in the Northern region.

He underscored the need for policies that genuinely benefit the populace, urging leaders to prioritize developmental initiatives over political maneuvers.
