Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the payment of one billion naira as gratuity to retirees in the state.
This move is part of his administration’s efforts to offset the backlog of outstanding gratuities owed to retirees.
Oyebanji’s special adviser on media and publicity, Akin Oyebode, stated that the payment fulfills the governor’s promise to prioritize workers and pensioners’ welfare.
Oyebode said, “It also reflects the governor’s commitment to set up a system to pay the backlog of gratuities that previous administrations owed.”
While emphasized that the governor is committed to improving the lives of retirees who have contributed to the state’s development during their active years.
“The governor urges the senior citizens to remain calm and optimistic as the government is dedicated to prioritizing their welfare,” he added.
