Charly Boy, a Nigerian singer and activist, has criticized Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, for his recent comments on Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Onanuga had criticizes Peter Obi’s silence on the Supreme Court’s decision granting financial autonomy to Nigeria’s 774 local councils, despite over 36 hours since the ruling.
“Why is Peter Obi silent?” Onanuga queried in his post. “His silence confirms the belief that he is always quick to tweet unverified news about the Tinubu administration or our country.”
The post drew swift backlash from supporters of Peter Obi, who flooded the comment section with criticism aimed at the presidential aide. Among the vocal critics was Charly Boy, who bluntly responded, “Why are you so shameless?”
Nigerian journalist David Hundeyin responded to criticism by jokingly stating, “Go drunk Bayo, you’re home.”
Influencer FS Yusuf questioned Onanuga’s motives, arguing that if policies work, they will be heard from the masses, not Peter Obi.
“Why are you looking for what he will say? If your policies will work, you will hear it from the masses and not Peter Obi. Shebi una say una win election?”
