Human Rights Lawyer Inibehe Effiong Condemns Political Leadership, Calls for National Reset

Inibehe Effiong, a prominent human rights lawyer, has strongly criticised Nigeria’s current political leadership, claiming that the worst elements of society are holding key political positions.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Effiong highlighted the urgent need for transformative action to address the systemic rot.

“The rot is so deeply entrenched, something has to happen that’ll shake this country to its very foundation and lead to a complete reset,”he stated.

Effiong expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the state of the nation, describing the corruption and mismanagement as deeply entrenched.

Effiong did not mince words in his critique, asserting that, “We have the worst of us occupying political positions. People whose agenda and preoccupation are to kill, steal and destroy. There has to be a fundamental change.”

Effiong’s strong stance comes as Nigerians prepare for a nationwide protest from August 1 to August 10, 2024.

The #EndBadGovernance protest is being planned in reaction to the general unhappiness that people feel about hunger, inflation, and the perceived shortcomings of the administration.
