Manchester United boss, Erik Ten Hag has attributed his team’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal in a preseason friendly on Sunday morning at the SoFi Stadium to subpar officiating.
Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli were on target for Mikel Arteta’s side, while Rasmus Hojlund netted the only goal for United.
Ten Hag remained optimistic about his team’s performance despite the loss and made critical observations about the match officiating.
In his post-match interview, Ten Hag commented on the quality of the game, noting, “I think [the game] was a very good level for the third week of pre-season, from both sides, but in the first half I thought we were the better team.”
He praised the build-up to United’s goal, saying, “We scored a very good goal, a very good ball in behind from [Marcus] Rashford and then [Rasmus] Hojlund with a very good move and a finish, I was very pleased.”
However, Ten Hag also voiced his frustration over the officiating, particularly concerning Arsenal’s first goal. “We also created some more good chances and we then conceded the goal which was offside,” he stated.
