Romelu Lukaku could be involved in talks between Napoli and Chelsea about Victor Osimhen’s transfer, as the Serie A team is keen to complete the deal for the Belgian striker.
The Belgian is set to resume training at Chelsea’s Cobham base this week after spending two seasons on loan at Inter Milan and AS Roma.
Fabrizio Romano reported, “Napoli keep looking for solutions for Victor Osimhen as they want to bring in Romelu Lukaku as soon as possible. Understand Napoli could also be open to discussing Osimhen as part of Lukaku talks with Chelsea. Osimhen said yes to PSG, but the deal is in stand-by between clubs.”
Lukaku has two years left on his contract after rejoining Chelsea for a club-record £97.5 million in 2021.
He has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with Napoli.
However, Chelsea is holding out for approximately £30 million and remains in negotiations with the Italian club, which must sell Osimhen to fund their market moves.
Paris Saint-Germain had been considered the frontrunner to sign the Nigerian striker, but talks with Napoli have stalled. Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has set a release clause of about €130 million (£110 million) for Osimhen.
The striker has been training separately from the rest of Antonio Conte’s squad and has yet to feature in their pre-season games.
Chelsea is keen on 25-year-old Osimhen, who played a crucial role in helping Napoli win the Italian championship in 2023.
While Chelsea sources previously indicated they would not meet Osimhen’s release clause, offloading Lukaku from their wage bill could potentially help finance a move for the Nigerian forward.
