Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed deep concern over the alleged disappearance of corruption case files involving the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The files, which were part of ongoing legal proceedings at the Kano State High Court, were reportedly taken during a violent protest that resulted in widespread destruction across the state.

The Kano State High Court of Justice was among numerous public institutions targeted by protesters during the recent “End Bad Government” demonstrations. The protests, driven by frustration over hunger and starvation in the country, saw hundreds of residents taking to the streets in anger.

The demonstrations quickly turned destructive, with several government properties, including the High Court, being vandalized and set ablaze.

During an assessment visit to the court premises on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf voiced his concerns about the missing files, which are critical to ongoing corruption cases against former Governor Ganduje.

The governor, accompanied by Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Haruna Isah Dederi, Chief Registrar of the High Court Abdullahi Ado Bayero, and other senior judicial officials, was visibly upset by the extent of the damage.

Governor Yusuf described the incident as a significant setback in the state’s fight against corruption.

“The disappearance of these crucial case files is a serious blow to justice and accountability in Kano State,” he said.

“It is deeply troubling that these files have been carted away, and this act of lawlessness cannot go unpunished.”

The governor also called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident, urging security agencies to ensure that those responsible for the attack on the court and the theft of the files are brought to justice.

He emphasized that the state government would not relent in its efforts to ensure that justice prevails.

This development was communicated through a press statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, further underscoring the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
