Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has urged the Federal Government to initiate an investigation into the recent violent protests in Kano State.
This call follows allegations from the Kano State government that the APC was responsible for inciting the violence.
Ganduje, who previously served as the Governor of Kano State, dismissed the allegations, instead accusing the current Governor, Abba Yusuf, of being the mastermind behind the unrest.
According to Ganduje, the violent protests were part of a deliberate effort by the Kano State government to destabilize President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje claimed that credible intelligence pointed to Governor Yusuf’s administration as the driving force behind the protests.
He argued that the protests were funded and orchestrated by the Kano State government in a bid to tarnish the image of the President and create instability in the region.
“Contrary to the claim by the Kano State government suggesting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) sponsored the violent protests in Kano State recently, it’s actually the Kano State government that funded the protest to tarnish the image of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration,” the statement read.
Ganduje further condemned what he described as the “reckless and irresponsible behaviour” of Governor Yusuf, accusing him of endangering the lives and properties of innocent citizens.
He stressed that such actions were not only aimed at destabilizing Kano but also undermining the peace and security of the region and, more importantly, damaging the reputation of the President.
The APC chairman’s call for a federal probe comes amid rising tensions in Kano, with both political camps exchanging accusations over the cause and responsibility for the recent unrest.
