Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has called on Noni Madueke to demonstrate greater consistency following the team’s 2-0 victory over Servette in their UEFA Conference League play-off.
Madueke, who came off the bench in the second half, sealed the win with a goal after Christopher Nkunku had given Chelsea the lead from the penalty spot.
Despite his impact on the game, Maresca emphasized that Madueke must exhibit more consistent performances if he is to become a regular starter.
In his post-match comments, Maresca expressed his admiration for the young forward but highlighted the need for continuous effort during training.
“I really like Noni,” Maresca said. “The only problem with him is that he needs to understand he needs to be consistent during the week, in every training session.”
Maresca further added that while Madueke has shown promise since joining the squad, there remains room for improvement.
“He’s a good player and he’s doing well with us since we started. I really like the player but as I said, until the transfer window closes, anything can happen. But for sure he is the kind of player that I like.”
Chelsea will be hoping to carry this momentum into their upcoming fixtures as they continue their European campaign.
