President Bola Tinubu will today leave Abuja for Beijing in China, on an official visit.
Presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale disclosed in a statement on Thursday, that Tinubu will have a “brief layover” in the United Arab Emirates.
“In China, the President will meet with President Xi Jinping and will hold meetings with Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation,” the statement reads.
It was also included in the statement that the president will be accompanied by senior government officials on the trip.
During this state trip, President Tinubu will also take part in the 2024 forum on China–Africa cooperation (FOCAC) billed to hold between September 4 and 6.
FOCAC serves as an official platform for collaboration between China and African countries with the objective of strengthening the economic and political ties.
The forum comes up every three years with the last one held virtually in 2021 as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.
