The chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila has said that there is no timeline for the implementation of the Stephen Oronsaye report.
The recommendation of the report seek to reduce the cost of governance by scrapping and merging some government agencies.
Back in February, President Tinubu ordered the full implementation of the Oronsaye report to “enhance efficiency in the federal service, and reduce the cost of governance”.
Afterwards , a 10-member committee was set up in March for the implementation of the report.
In spite the plan to cut the cost of governance, the president has indicated the possibility of creating a ministry of livestock development.
Whilst addressing reporters in Abuja on Tuesday after visiting the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) headquarters, Gbajabiamila stated that the implementation of the report “is not as easy as it sounds”.
“Yes we have been talking about this for months now, but anything worth doing is worth doing properly. It is not as easy as it sounds,” the chief of staff said.
“A committee has been set and I’m sure very soon a full and final report will be out and implementation will begin.
“I can’t give you an exact timeline. We don’t want to sacrifice thoroughness on the altar of anxiety.
“It will be done soon.”
