The Toronto Police Service of Canada has announced that it has arrested Amaka Sonnberger, a Nigerian woman living in the country who has reportedly spewed death threats and hate speech against some tribes.

She had declared to poison the meals of people of Yoruba and Benin origin.

Sonnberger, who was applauded by others in the clip, implored them that they should take the same actions against people from other tribes.

However, on August 28, the CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa said a group of Nigerians in Canada reported the woman to the appropriate authorities.

Subsequently, reports began to come out that that 46-year old had been apprehended but in a video shown later on, she denied the statement, boasting that she is a Canadian citizen and would be untouched in the nation.

But in a statement on Sunday, the Canadian police disclosed that it arrested Sonnberger in connection to her video where she allegedly threatened to kill certain members of the Nigerian community.

“This investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence,” the police said, adding that she has been charged with uttering threats.

She is expected to appear before a court on Monday (today).

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-3500, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or at www.222tips.com,” the police added.
