Former England international and football pundit Darren Bent has expressed confidence in Chelsea’s ability to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
Bent made the prediction while speaking on talkSPORT, highlighting the team’s potential firepower and depth despite their inconsistent start to the campaign.
“Fourth – Chelsea. I just think look at the firepower they have got. It’s a bit of a basket case, but I have seen the sample sizes, like the Wolves result away from home, 6-2. I know they drew 1-1 with Palace, but they have won one, lost one, and drawn one.”
Bent acknowledged Chelsea’s current form, referring to their early mixed results, but emphasized that once their squad settles, they could reach their full potential.
He pointed out that manager Enzo Maresca, now with a stable squad after the transfer window closed, would be key to their resurgence.
“I feel that once Maresca has got his settled team now that the window has closed—no incomings and no outgoings and all that—a settled squad, I feel like they will finish in the top four,” Bent added.
Chelsea has faced criticism for their inconsistency in recent seasons, but with Bent’s backing, fans may find renewed hope as the Blues look to rebuild and push for a strong finish.
