Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has openly criticized Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag for his handling of Jadon Sancho’s situation.
The England international, who has now joined Chelsea on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy, saw his relationship with Ten Hag deteriorate over time.
Sancho, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund following a fallout with the United manager, was briefly reintegrated into the squad during the summer.
However, a last-minute transfer to Chelsea has seemingly brought an end to his tumultuous time at Old Trafford.
Klopp expressed disappointment over how Ten Hag managed Sancho’s predicament, suggesting that more support should have been given to the player before his departure.
“If the whole world loses trust and faith in the player, the manager has to be the one behind the player,” Klopp stated in an interview.
He went on to question the club’s decision to send an £80 million player out on loan, highlighting what he sees as a failure in the player-management relationship.
Sancho’s loan move to Chelsea is seen as a fresh start for the winger, who was once touted as one of the brightest young talents in Europe.
Yet, his struggles at Manchester United under Ten Hag’s regime have raised questions about the club’s ability to nurture top talents.
