Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has implemented a work-from-home policy for civil servants to alleviate the economic challenges in the state.

This new measure reflects the administration’s continued commitment to workers’ welfare.

In a statement released by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the policy will apply to different categories of officers based on their grade levels.

Officers on levels 01-07 will work from home three days a week, while those on levels 08-12 will have the flexibility of working remotely two days a week. Senior officers on levels 13-17 will work from home once a week.

The policy, effective from Monday, September 9, 2024, will not apply to essential workers such as teachers, healthcare professionals in hospitals, and security personnel, who are required to continue their duties on-site.

To ensure seamless service delivery, the Governor has directed each Ministry, Department, and Agency (MDA) to create a workable schedule for staff, ensuring that the work-from-home arrangement does not disrupt operations.

The policy is slated to last for two months and will be subject to review based on prevailing circumstances.

This initiative is part of broader palliative measures introduced by the state government, which include a monthly wage award for workers and pensioners, as well as a free bus service for workers and students.
