Vice President Kamala Harris made a bold statement during her first televised presidential debate on Tuesday, asserting that she is not President Joe Biden but rather a distinct candidate in the race.

The comment came in response to former President Donald Trump’s repeated portrayed Harris as a far-left candidate, advocating for open-border policies, fracking bans, and gun confiscation, and linking her to Biden, presenting them as similar politicians..

Trump’s criticisms were largely directed at Biden, who withdrew from the presidential race in July following a poor performance in a previous debate against Trump.

Despite Biden no longer being in the running, Trump continued to target his policies and leadership during the heated ABC debate.

Harris, in a sharp retort, reminded Trump that he was no longer running against Biden. “I’m not Joe Biden. I’m not Donald Trump,” she declared. “You’re running against me, not Biden.”

Throughout the debate, Harris and Trump clashed on a wide range of critical issues.

The two candidates sparred over abortion rights, immigration reform, the state of U.S. inflation, the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the post-pandemic recovery of the U.S. economy.
