Shehu Sani, a former senator and social activist, has urged Nigeria’s defense chiefs to take decisive action against the notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji.

Sani’s statement follows the relocation of defence chiefs to Sokoto, a move aimed at strengthening military operations against terrorism in the North West.

In a recent video, Turji, known for his involvement in various terrorist activities, publicly challenged Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff to capture him, further heightening tensions in the region.

Reacting to this, Senator Sani took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, urging the military to use this opportunity to eliminate Turji and other notorious figures in the region.

Sani noted that Turji has managed to survive by portraying himself as a figure open to dialogue, misleading some into believing in his willingness to negotiate.

However, the former lawmaker insisted that Turji’s actions prove he lives by violence and must be taken out to ensure peace in the North West.

“The terrorist Turji has survived over the years by portraying himself as one who is ready for dialogue and one who is out to fight other rival terrorist groups, and sadly, some people believed him.

The relocation of the defence chiefs to Sokoto must take out Turji, Baleri, Dogo Gide, and Alero in the interest of peace in the North West. Turji lives by the sword,” Sani’s post read.
