Veteran comedian, Ali Baba, has voiced his disapproval of men who pressure their wives to quit their jobs because they earn more than them.
The comedian shared his thoughts while reacting to a trending story about a man who reportedly forced his wife to resign due to her higher income.
Ali Baba questioned the authenticity of the story but used the opportunity to address what he described as the fragility of men whose self-worth is tied to their financial status.
He suggested that such men should quit their jobs instead of asking their successful partners to step down.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, the comedian expressed disbelief at women who would comply with such demands.
He stated, “If you earn more than your man, let him quit his job. Nonsense! Who are these lazy bumcums peddling these stupid narratives?”
He went on to argue that a man whose confidence is solely based on his financial standing is weak and insecure.
“If you are earning N10 million a month, and your husband earns N1.5 million, how does it make sense to resign? That means the man’s confidence is financially driven and anchored. Insecurities my foot.”
Ali Baba further pointed to prominent couples like Oprah Winfrey and her long-time partner, Stedman Graham, to illustrate his point.
He rhetorically asked whether Stedman would ever ask Oprah to resign, calling for men to be motivated by successful women instead of feeling threatened.
