Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has attributed the ongoing blackout affecting Northern Nigeria to a significant security threat.
Adelabu disclosed that the delay in repairs on the Shiroro-Kaduna power line, essential for restoring electricity to the region, is due to escalated security risks in the area.
“This time was more severe, and the repairs have been delayed because of security threats,” the Minister said, underscoring the complexity of addressing infrastructure damage in areas with heightened security challenges.
Adelabu assured the public that efforts are underway to restore power by the end of this week, stating that his team is working to resolve the issue as quickly as safety allows.
The Minister’s assurance follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for the Ministry of Power and relevant agencies to expedite restoration efforts after days of disruption.
