Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit has publicly encouraged Arsenal to consider signing former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Petit, an influential voice in the football community, believes Pogba is driven to prove himself and “seek revenge” after recent setbacks, which could benefit Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta.
Pogba’s career hit a significant hurdle after receiving a four-year ban for doping offences, but following a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the ban has been reduced to 18 months.
The France 2018 World Cup winner will be allowed to resume training from January 2025, making him eligible for match play by March.
Speaking to Jeffbet, Petit expressed his confidence in Pogba’s potential impact if given an opportunity with Arsenal.
“Pogba wants revenge; he wants to prove to himself and fans around the world that he’s not finished yet,” Petit said. “Honestly, Arsenal should 100% gamble on signing Paul Pogba. He will give everything on the pitch.”
Petit believes Pogba’s skills would align well with Arsenal’s needs in midfield.
“Pogba fits the Arsenal midfield perfectly—he’s tall, strong, and very creative,” he added. “We all know how good a happy Pogba is. He needs love and to be given confidence, and I think Arteta and Arsenal can offer this to him.”
