Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has raised concerns about Manchester City’s Premier League form, warning that Pep Guardiola’s side may struggle to secure a top-four finish this season.
Carragher shared his thoughts on Sky Sports following City’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
Goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah sealed a convincing win for the Reds, who now sit nine points clear at the top of the table under new manager Arne Slot.
The defeat marks City’s fourth consecutive loss in the league and their sixth in seven matches across all competitions. As a result, Guardiola’s team has dropped to fifth place in the Premier League, trailing behind Arsenal, Chelsea, and Brighton.
Carragher compared City’s struggles to Liverpool’s injury-hit 2020/21 season, calling the current situation a “mini crisis.”
“I think it’s almost a mini crisis for Man City,” Carragher said.
“It’s reminiscent of Liverpool two years ago. I actually think Man City have a fight on their hands for top four. I look at Arsenal and Chelsea and the way they’re looking right now; I think it will be difficult for Man City to finish above them if they don’t go into the market in January.
