Ndidi Should Have Seen Red for Palmer Tackle— Webb

PGMOL chief Howard Webb has acknowledged that midfielder Wilfred Ndidi should have been sent off for a high tackle on Chelsea’s Cole Palmer during their Premier League match last month.

Ndidi was only issued a yellow card for the challenge by referee Andrew Madley, a decision that was reviewed by VAR but ultimately upheld.

The tackle, which occurred in the first half of Chelsea’s 2-1 victory at the King Power Stadium, sparked debate among pundits and fans, with many questioning why stronger action was not taken.

Speaking on the incident, Webb conceded that the officials had erred in their judgment.

“We’ve looked at this collectively, among the officials, talked about this, and we would prefer this to be dealt with as a red card. We have to protect player safety,” Webb said.
