The All Progressives Congress (APC) claims Nigerian President Bola Tinubu is in a superior political position compared to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

In a statement issued on Sunday, APC National Publicity Director Bala Ibrahim responded to the recent meeting between Obasanjo, Kwankwaso, and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke in Absolute, Ogun State.

The meeting, which Kwankwaso described as a “courtesy call” aimed at discussing national issues and governance, has sparked speculation about a potential political alliance.

However, Ibrahim quickly dismissed the gathering as inconsequential, stating that Tinubu’s political dominance in Nigeria far outstrips that of the three leaders.

He further stressed that the combined political influence of Obasanjo, Kwankwaso, Obi, and Duke would not lead to any meaningful outcome.

Ibrahim emphasized that Tinubu is not on the same political level as the group.

“When it comes to the politics of Nigeria, particularly contemporary politics, Tinubu is not their mate,” he stated. “Tinubu is head and shoulders above them in modern politics in Nigeria.”

He pointed out that the opposition figures—Obasanjo, Kwankwaso, Obi, and Duke—were all defeated in the 2023 general elections, making their current political endeavors unthreatening.

Ibrahim said, “These are people who were trashed in the last election. So they can have marathon meetings and meet till the end of time, but they will not present any threat to the government of APC.”

The APC spokesperson also took aim at the leadership of the opposition figures, questioning their credibility in light of their previous electoral losses.

“Who among Kwankwaso, Obasanjo, Obi, Duke was not beaten? If they are bringing angels, it’s a different story,” he remarked.
