Ekiti State Government has earmarked N8.17 billion for the construction of key roads across the state.

This move is aimed at boosting the state’s socio-economic activities, enhancing its infrastructural development, and alleviating the hardships faced by residents.

Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Information and Value Orientation, announced the approval of road construction projects following the weekly Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Ado Ekiti

A total of N1.4 billion has been set aside for the construction of the Bovas Filling Station-Spotless Hotel Road in Ado Ekiti. Olatunbosun emphasized that the approval is aligned with the administration’s commitment to infrastructural development, in line with Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s six pillars of governance.

“The completion of the road will enhance socio-economic activities in the area, serving as a vital link between two key axes in the city,” Olatunbosun said.

The contract for the project has been awarded to Messrs. Banky Pacesetter Nigeria Limited, with a 60% mobilization fee to be paid upon the submission of an Advance Payment Guarantee (APG) or Insurance Bond. The project is expected to be completed within 10 months.

In addition to this, over N5 billion has been allocated for the extension and rehabilitation of the Hospitals Management Board/Doctor’s Quarters Road to Apata Natha Junction, also in Ado Ekiti. Originally awarded to Messrs. Dortmund and Company Limited in July 2023 at a sum of N413 million, the contract was reviewed and increased to N778 million due to changes in the rates of contracts in the state.

“The contractor has made substantial progress on the original work, but there is a need to extend the road to the Apata Natha junction to improve connectivity between Basiri and Adebayo, thus reducing the hardship faced by residents,” Olatunbosun added
