“You Can’t Serve Two Masters – Governor Bala Calls Out Wike’s Divided Loyalty

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has criticized Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike for displaying “shameless dual loyalty,” warning that his conflicting political allegiances could set a dangerous precedent in Nigerian politics.

He accused Wike of undermining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while simultaneously aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a move he described as both hypocritical and detrimental to democracy.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed criticized Wike for his inconsistent political stance, particularly his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) government while still identifying as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The remarks followed Wike’s recent criticism of Governor Mohammed’s opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills.

Mohammed, who also serves as the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, described Wike as an opportunist who undermines the very party that facilitated his rise in politics.

“Chief Wike’s political journey is a testament to the opportunities provided by the PDP, yet he now gleefully attacks the party that nurtured him. It is disheartening that a man who owes his political success to the PDP has chosen to be a tool in its denigration,” Mohammed stated.

The Bauchi governor also accused Wike of prioritizing personal interests over party loyalty, labeling him as an “unreliable and fair-weather friend.”

He argued that while Wike actively promotes the APC government, he simultaneously claims membership in the PDP, a contradiction that raises questions about his credibility.

Mohammed further dismissed Wike’s comments on the Tax Reform Bills as “baseless” and “hypocritical,” asserting that his own stance on the issue was a principled effort to ensure inclusivity and accountability.

He concluded by warning that Wike’s brand of politics, which he likened to the shifting allegiances portrayed in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, threatens the moral foundation of Nigeria’s democracy.

“Wike’s shameless oscillation between PDP and APC undermines the principles of democracy. Politics must be guided by integrity, not personal whims,” Mohammed said.
