England defender Kyle Walker has officially joined AC Milan from Manchester City on a six-month loan, with the Serie A giants retaining the option to make the move permanent this summer.

The 34-year-old requested a move away from City earlier in January, with his last appearance for the club coming in their 4-1 victory over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.

City accepted Milan’s formal loan offer on Thursday, with the option to buy reportedly valued at £4.2 million (€5 million), according to Sky Italia.

Walker leaves City as one of the club’s most accomplished defenders, having made 319 appearances over seven-and-a-half seasons. Since joining from Tottenham Hotspur for £50 million in 2017, he has been instrumental in the club’s dominance, winning 17 trophies, including six Premier League titles and last season’s historic treble.

He also captained City to their fourth consecutive league title in the 2022/23 season.

At AC Milan, Walker will don the number 32 shirt, joining a squad currently eighth in Serie A and pushing for a Champions League qualification spot.

Following the confirmation of his move, Walker took to Instagram to bid farewell to Manchester City, describing his time at the club as a “dream come true.”

“Signing up for this incredible club in 2017 was a dream come true. Seven years later, winning 17 trophies, including the Champions League and the famous treble, is something I could only have dreamt of as a child,” Walker wrote.

He expressed gratitude to City’s coaching staff, backroom personnel, teammates, and manager Pep Guardiola for shaping him into the player he is today.

He also acknowledged the unwavering support of the fans, thanking them for making him feel at home since his arrival.
