Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Ikpeba, has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s new head coach, Eric Chelle, backing him to guide the team to success at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The Super Eagles, aiming for their fourth AFCON title, have been drawn in Group D alongside Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles, Uganda’s Cranes, and Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.
Their campaign will begin with a clash against Tanzania.
Chelle, who previously led Mali to the quarter-finals of the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, has been tasked with steering Nigeria to continental glory. Ikpeba believes the coach’s experience and understanding of African football will be crucial to the team’s performance.
“He’s a young coach and has a good knowledge of African football,” Ikpeba told SuperSport. “He will get the best out of the Super Eagles. He will do a good job.”
With the tournament fast approaching, expectations are high as Nigeria seeks to reclaim the prestigious title and solidify its dominance in African football.
