Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, has refuted claims made by former National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, regarding the assassination of Nigeria’s former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige.

Akande, a former governor of Osun State, alleged in an interview with renowned broadcaster Edmund Obilo that Ladoja had crucial information about the circumstances surrounding Ige’s murder.

He also claimed that Ladoja had entered a no-case submission for suspects linked to the high-profile assassination.

Expressing concerns over the unresolved case, Akande lamented that key figures who might have provided further insights, including former Oyo State Governor Lam Adesina, had passed away.

However, Ladoja dismissed the allegations, suggesting that age might have affected Akande’s recollection of events from that period.

He questioned why Akande, who claimed to have undisclosed knowledge about the case, had not revealed specific details about the tragic incident, which occurred on December 23, 2001.

Speaking with reporters at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, Ladoja, who is next in line to the Olubadan of Ibadan throne, maintained his innocence and denied any involvement in the matter.

The assassination of Chief Bola Ige remains one of Nigeria’s most controversial political killings, with many unanswered questions still lingering over two decades later.
