A US-based Nigerian businesswoman, Blessing Nwachukwu Frank, has shared how she embraced her newfound independence after divorce, celebrating the end of her marriage with a lavish party at an upscale restaurant in Atlanta.

Frank made this revelation in a Facebook post on Tuesday, February 4, addressing critics who have shamed her for choosing to remain single in her 30s.

According to her, rather than mourning the end of her marriage, she decided to celebrate, highlighting the importance of embracing life’s different phases.

“A lot of you have spent the past three years calling me all sorts of names simply because I am divorced and choose to remain single, especially in my 30s. Many times, I just roll my eyes because what you don’t know is you are crying me a river,” she wrote.

She went on to explain that she believes in celebrating every moment—good or bad—adding that her decision to throw a divorce party was a reflection of her mindset.

“I threw an entire party in one of the most expensive restaurants in Atlanta and had a great time with my friends and family. I celebrate everything in my life; the good, the bad, and the ugly,” she stated.

Reflecting on her journey, Frank emphasized that being single at 37 has brought her peace and happiness, despite societal expectations.

“This year would have made me 10 years in marriage, but I have peace being 37 and single. I am genuinely happy because I chose me,” she added.

She also encouraged both those in long-term marriages and those who have walked away to prioritize their happiness and mental well-being.
