The Federal Government has revealed that Nigeria’s healthcare sector has made significant strides, with patients now seeking medical treatment from countries as far as the United States and the United Kingdom.

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, made the announcement during a briefing with State House correspondents on Tuesday, February 4, following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Pate noted that the growing recognition of Nigeria’s healthcare system is attracting international patients, not just from neighboring West African countries but also from the US and the UK.

He highlighted that despite the challenges faced by the sector, substantial progress is being made in improving the quality of healthcare in the country.

“People are now beginning to come from the subregion, and even from faraway places like the UK and the US, to receive quality healthcare in Nigeria,” Pate said.

He went on to emphasize that the transformation of Nigeria’s healthcare system, as promised by President Bola Tinubu, is already taking shape, with the country emerging as a preferred destination for medical treatment.
