Operatives of the Ogun State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, have arrested one Ramoni Abiodun Segun over the death of his girlfriend, identified as Adijat, in his residence.
According to a statement by the Deputy Corps Commander, Col. Tajudeen Bakare, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the tragic incident occurred at Odoraboyejo in the Ojowo area of Ijebu Igbo.
Reports indicate that Adijat had spent the night at Segun’s residence when she suddenly complained of severe stomach pain.
She reportedly became unconscious and later passed away on Tuesday morning.
Bakare disclosed that Amotekun operatives apprehended Segun after receiving a distress call from an anonymous source.
“On Monday, February 3, 2025, in the evening, the suspect, Ramoni Abiodun Segun, brought his girlfriend, Adijat, to his residence,” the statement read.
“However, a distress call received this morning at 9:00 am from an anonymous source alerted that the woman was discovered unresponsive and subsequently found dead in Segun’s room.
“In his statement, Segun claimed that Adijat had been experiencing stomach pain throughout the night, which he believed resulted in her unfortunate death.”
The suspect has been transferred to the Ijebu Igbo Police Division for further investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Bakare urged anyone with relevant information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
