Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has reaffirmed his admiration for former Nigerian international, Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha, describing him as his biggest football idol.

Iwobi, who has been in fine form for Fulham this season, attributed his ability to handle pressure and express himself on the field to the influence of Okocha, who is also his uncle.

Speaking on the ‘Is This Seat Taken’ podcast, Iwobi credited the former Super Eagles captain for shaping his football career both on and off the pitch.

“In sports? Forever my uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha. I have to shout him out all the time,” Iwobi said. “I used to go watch his matches and training sessions. He is the one that really taught me how to express myself.”

Beyond football, Iwobi acknowledged Okocha’s mentorship in his personal life, especially in financial management and maintaining professionalism.

“He is always advising me on how to be professional, manage my money, how to move, stay humble and grounded. So he will always be my idol,” the former Arsenal midfielder added.
